Data Annotation Specialist (Freelance)

Industry & Sector:

We operate in the AI training-data and data services sector, delivering high-quality labeled datasets that power machine learning models in computer vision, NLP, and speech recognition. Our clients span fintech, healthtech, e‑commerce, robotics, and autonomous systems worldwide. This is a remote, freelance role open to candidates based in Vietnam.

Role & Responsibilities

• Perform accurate, consistent annotation of images, video, audio, and/or text according to project-specific labeling guidelines and quality standards.
• Use web-based annotation platforms to create bounding boxes, polygons, segmentation masks, and entity tags with high throughput and low error rates.
• Conduct self-review and participate in QA cycles, fixing flagged annotations and implementing reviewer feedback to meet SLA and accuracy KPIs.
• Document edge cases, report ambiguities, and collaborate with project managers to refine labeling instructions and ontologies.
• Maintain strict data confidentiality and handle sensitive data in compliance with client and platform requirements.
• Manage time and deliverables as a freelance contributor—complete tasks on schedule and update progress in project trackers.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

• Proven experience performing dataset annotation for computer vision or NLP projects.
• Familiarity with annotation platforms such as Labelbox or CVAT.
• Practical knowledge of bounding box and polygon annotation workflows.
• Experience with semantic segmentation and pixel-level labeling (for vision projects) or Named Entity Recognition (for text projects).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet accuracy KPIs consistently.
• Proficiency in written English sufficient to follow documentation and communicate issues.

Preferred

• Prior freelance or crowdsourced annotation experience on commercial ML projects.
• Familiarity with audio transcription or speech annotation workflows.
• Experience using productivity tools (Google Sheets, Slack, or similar) for status reporting.
