About Us

Circle is building the world’s leading all-in-one platform for online communities. We make it possible for creators, coaches, educators, and businesses to bring together their audience with engaging discussions, live streams, events, chat, courses, and payments — all in one place, all under their own brand.

We’re proud to be a fully remote company of around 170 (and growing!) team members from 30+ countries around the world. We seek exceptional individuals around the world, set them up to do the best work of their lives, and in turn, create a meaningful impact in their own lives. We don't track hours, but we do manage for high expectations very closely. We collaborate across time zones, are highly async, and like to document a lot.

Twice a year, we bring the whole company together in beautiful places around the world for our company offsites. So far, we’ve hosted offsites in Turkey, Portugal, Mexico, Thailand, Colombia, Italy, Ireland, and more, with still more to come!

About the role

Circle is growing its Quality Assurance team to support the expansion of our business and products. We are looking for a proactive self-starter who can innovate and refine quality processes and strategies.

In this role, you will work closely with our development teams, focusing on shifting left to add value early in the development cycle. Your strong technical expertise will be critical, as you'll test both native and web apps. Solid experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Appium, and WebDriverIO, Cypress, or Playwright (or similar tools) is required.

We need someone who is curious, analytical, and skilled at identifying software gaps and exploring requirements.

You’ll collaborate with three Senior QA Engineers and the QA Lead on technical and non-technical testing. Together, you'll implement and support new testing strategies and processes to ensure high-quality outcomes

What you'll be doing

  • Collaborate with development teams to implement and promote shift-left testing practices, ensuring early defect detection and prevention.
  • Design and maintain test architecture and test scripts for both native apps and web apps in JavaScript/TypeScript for our WebDriverIO/Playwright Frameworks.
  • Monitor, analyze and follow up on test reports and results in our CI pipelines for BuildKite and BrowserStack.
  • Implement and refine QA processes and strategies to align with team and business goals.
  • Advocate for quality throughout the software development lifecycle, identifying areas for improvement and driving solutions.
  • Implement and maintain Test Cases inside BrowserStack Test Management.
  • Be proactive in being an advocate for quality, suggesting improvements on existing processes and strategies.
  • Be an expert in exploring software for gaps in requirements, user experience, accessibility and edge case issues.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on defects, working closely with developers to resolve issues promptly.
  • Track and report key quality metrics, including defect rates, test coverage, and cycle times, to drive continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance the testing process and maintain industry best practices.
  • Manage your time and priorities efficiently as business objectives expand and change rapidly.

What you'll need to be successful

  • Strong alignment with our values, find our values on our career page if you haven’t read up on them yet
  • You are proficient in English (spoken, written, and reading) at a CEFR Level C2 / ILR Level 5.
  • Deep knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience with building automation frameworks from scratch including architecture.
  • Experience with CI/CD (we use BuildKite & BrowserStack).
  • Practical knowledge of shifting testing left.
  • A proactive approach to testing, processes and strategies.
  • Able to efficiently prioritize multiple work streams at the same time.
  • Challenge and innovate the status quo for quality at all times.
  • Experience in an agile delivery environment in which requirements might not always be clear and scope might change during development.
  • Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

Bonus points

  • Experience working with Ruby as we have a Watir framework we still have to maintain.
  • Creating and maintaining unit tests to help unblock development teams.
  • Computer Science or equivalent degree.
