The Impact You Will Have
As a front-end engineer at Gretel, you will be an integral part of the team that builds our Console and APIs, which are the first and most frequent touch-point customers have with Gretel. Therefore, our work on these products is key for growth, satisfaction, and retention on our platform. As a staff engineer on our team, you will leverage modern frontend technologies, working closely with design and product, to provide the best possible experience for our users.
What you will do
- Be a core contributor of front-end code, tests, and application/data/systems architecture on a small team of engineers working across the stack
- Own both customer and developer happiness for your products in production, working with your own and other teams to build operational transparency and resiliency into every layer of deployed applications
- Coordinate with engineering and product leads to define, prioritize, and task projects that help us meet business objectives
- Collaborate within your team encouraging the growth of others through regular code reviews and feedback
Basic Qualifications
- At least 8 years of professional experience in software development
- Mastery of the fundamentals of web development with HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and React
- Experience in the delivery of front-end systems for SaaS products
- A strong understanding of building accessible applications using modern tools
- Ability to deliver rapid prototypes using HTML/CSS/TypeScript to quickly test features and validate ideas, while keeping our campsite clean
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A passion for web accessibility and inclusivity
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building applications using React
- Experience building and deploying applications in public cloud providers or with platforms such as Heroku, Vercel, etc.
- Experience configuring & maintaining modern front-end build technologies like Webpack, esbuild, etc.
- Experience working with, maintaining, and contributing to modular design systems
- Experience working remotely in a distributed company

Compensation
Employee compensation will be determined based on interview performance, level of experience, specialization of skills, and market rate. During the offer discussion, your recruiter will review the finalized base salary, bonus (for applicable roles), benefits and perks (additional information available on our career site), and stock options as they’ll be reflected in the offer letter.
Employees hired in the U.S. and Canada can expect the below information to reflect a reasonable estimate of the salary offered for this role. Salary ranges are updated regularly using premium market data. (Please note: it is unusual for new hires to receive a base salary at the top of the range. Additionally, the value of Gretel.ai’s stock options is not included in the salary bands and may represent a significant portion of your compensation.)
Staff Software Engineer: $190,000-$230,000 USD
Principal Software Engineer: $220,000-$250,000 USD
